Coconio National Forest

Directions: 2 miles north of Flagstaff on SR 180.

Route: Ride up Elden Lookout Rd. (1 hr). Steep side-trail leads to Sunset Tr. Take Sunset to Upper Brookbank, then bear right onto Little Gnarly. Exhilarating descent on Schultz Creek Tr. (See map)

Length: 14 miles.

Complete loop: 2 to 4 hours.

Option: Drive to lookout, ride half-loop (wimps only).

Rating: Difficult to Extreme.

Trail: Single-track.

Season: Spring through fall.
