Lookout Mountain Preserve
Lookout Mountain Park offers an extensive variety of opportunities, including hiking, riding, tennis, exercise course, playfield and playground.
The Summit Trail is restricted to hiking: No moutain biking on The Summit Trail. All other trails are multiuse unless posted otherwise. Dogs must be leashed.
Trails:
#150: Lookout Mountain Summit Trail
Length: .6 mile
Elevation: 1,580 ft. - 2,054 ft.
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
The trailhead is located on 16th Street, south of Greenway Parkway. The short trail to the top climbs more than 500 feet in just under one mile. This trail also is accessible from Lookout Mountain Park, located at 18th Street and Sharon Drive. An access trail from the park joins the Circumference trail in .2 of a mile.
#308: Lookout Mountain Circumference Trail
Length: 2.6 mile loop
Elevation: 1,550 ft - 1,700 ft.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
From the 16th Street trailhead, this trail loops around Lookout Mountain. There are frequent short climbs and descents along the trail. This trail also is accessible from Lookout Mountain Park, located at 18th Street and Sharon Drive. You must take the access trail from the park and join the Circumference Trail to get to the 16th Street trailhead, where you can access the Summit Trail.
