When did
you first start working out?
I was introduced to dance, fitness and weights at a very
young age. I competed in dance and sports through out my childhood. When I
turned 14, I snuck into gyms and worked out with my personal trainer friends of
mine. Once every staff member knew who I was and my desire to train, no one
cared I had not bought a membership for three years! I was constantly told I
should be a fighter or compete in fitness professionally. At 16, I was
choreographing for professional dance teams and training with Ken Shamrock at
The Lion’s Den. Since then, I’ve choreographed for numerous dance teams and a
world renown dance band. I don’t train in Martial Arts as much as I’d like to
but I teach boxing and kickboxing classes weekly.
What
makes a great fitness model?
Someone who
is dedicated to fitness and health, sexy, confident, and is full of smiles!
What are
the secrets to become a fitness model?
Being a
positive representative of health and fitness by always showing dedication to
working out, presenting oneself in a professional manner and helping others
achieve their fitness and wellness goals.
What did
you do to become a model?
I became a
model along with being on dance and promotion teams growing up. When I was in
front of crowds, teaching or dancing at big events, photographers would ask for
photo shoots or other promotional work. Then once I got to know more and more
people, and they got to know me, it just kept going uphill from there.
What are
the benefits to being a fitness model?
Motivation
to keep a fit figure and being noticed as a fitness model by other bodybuilders
or fitness models. I understand and have a lot on common with friends and the
networking in this industry.
What is
your favorite thing about being a fitness model?
The
industry, being involved with hundreds of people who love to take care of
themselves and motivate others to stay healthy, fit and live life to it’s
fullest. Also, the endless opportunities and locations for photo shoots.
How do
you stay beautiful?
I try to
take care of my self in all aspects of body and mind. Balance is my main focus
in keeping a beautiful presentation. Having a balance will allow you to smile
and let others know you are happy and confident. Balancing school, working out,
preparing for contests, and time spent with family and friends are very
important. I’ve learned if your life is not well balanced, stress, lack of sleep
and the little things will wear you down.
How do
you stay fit, do you have a personal trainer, chef, work out, what do you do?
I eat a
healthy and delicious diet. I can enjoy it now because I can cook my own meals
and add my favorite tastes. I do have a trainer, Tony Dodd. We meet at least
twice a week. When I’m not training with him, I enjoy boxing and kickboxing
classes and working out with my fiancé. I love working out and finding new ways
to make it fun and challenging.
How do
you keep your skin healthy and fresh looking?
After
trying numerous products to see what works best for me, I promised myself to
dedicate time when I wake up and before I go to sleep to take care of my skin.
Having a well balanced diet helps too. I drink lots of water and get facials at
least once a month.
What do
you believe is good health and fitness?
Good health
and fitness is maintaining your life in a balanced and controlled manner.
Balancing my job, studying for school, eating a healthy diet and maintaining my
workout schedule keeps me in good health and increases my focus and fitness
capabilities.
Do you
prefer to tan or use tanning lotion?
I prefer a
tanning bed with a tanning lotion. I don’t like to tan a lot so when, and if I
do, I use a bronzer that will darken my skin more and reduce the times I have to
get under the tanning beds. For my contests, I use Protan.
First
Interest In Fitness/Bodybuilding:
I have
always been interested in overall fitness but I recently became serious about
competing in figure and fitness contests. About a month before the Rock and Roll
Marathon in 2005, I was uncomfortable with how much muscle tissue I lost from
the running. I called a personal trainer friend of mine, Tony Dodd, and told
him, “That’s it! After this marathon, I’m hitting the weights! I don’t care what
it takes. I want my muscle back! Put me in contests, too!” I finished my first
marathon in 4 hours and 36 minutes, and that very next week, I started training
and haven’t stopped yet.
Goal
Within The modeling/ Fitness Industry:
My goal is
to earn my pro card in 2006 and be on the cover of some of the top magazines in
the industry. I am also hoping to be sponsored by Adidas, it’s a long shot but
I’m trying! Once I achieve these goals I will set new ones. My daily goals are
to stay focused and inspire others to live a healthy life.
Life
Goals/Dreams – Wow,
where do I begin? Graduate college, earn my degree in Kinesiology,
compete in fitness and figure contests as a professional, be sponsored by Adidas
and other fitness brands, help others through fitness and supplements, manage my
own gym and dance studio, have my own kids and continue teaching fitness and
dance classes . . .

Contest
Work Out Routine: I
split my workouts to three sessions: shoulders/tris with some chest, back/bis,
and legs. I usually do 3 exercises for abs before my cardio. I do cardio for 45
minutes 5 times a week. As it gets closer to my contests, I do cardio for 45
minutes, twice a day for 5 times a week. I usually take Sundays off from
everything.
Off-season work out routine:
I would do other exercises for cardio instead, like an advanced hip-hop or jazz

would still have the same workout routine.
