Biography:
My first recollection of ever competing
was participating in a Track & Field event at the age of 10 in the
Bahamas. It felt exciting when I won my first race. In 1985 my family
relocated to New York, where I continued to participate in Track & Field
events and eventually started competing in long distance running and
Softball. My athletic hunger grew when I reached college where I
participated in Women’s Novice Crew and ROTC, along with Track & Field.
I fell into competing in Fitness shows
almost by accident. I entered a beauty pageant in 1998 and since I
could not sing or play an instrument, I acquired the services of a Pro
competitor, Marie Allegro, to assist me in creating a fitness routine
for the pageant’s talent requirement. I still can’t believe I actually
won the show! My next pageant experience was the Miss New York USA
Pageant, where I was a top 10 finalist.
I started competing in Fitness America
competitions back in 1999 following my pageantry reign but was then
sidelined by several injuries. I eased back into the physique world by
entering Figure and Bikini shows in 2001. It hasn’t been an easy
task. Year after year training becomes more difficult. I don’t work
normal hours…I tend to keep myself busy with work and various projects.
But squeezing in workouts and dieting takes its toll at times…but I
stay in the game because I love the sport, I love being apart of a group
of healthy, fit individuals with the same goals. Nothing feels better
than getting on stage and showing off months of hard work and dieting.
It makes the late nights, early morning and lunch break gym workouts
worth while.
