My
name is Alexis Chapman and throughout my life I have had many
opportunities to develop unique skills, experiences, and training. I
started ballet training at three years old. As a Ballet British
Columbia apprentice at age 14, I had the opportunity to be around
elite performers at a young age.
I was a dancer for 14 years, and I have done lots of acting for film
and television. I attended Hofstra University on Long Island, New
York for Acting, dance, tap, and singing school when I was 16. I am
a cellist and I have pursued singing in London, England.
All of that performing background has given me a tremendous
foundation to draw from when competing in the sport of figure
bodybuilding, as well as teach the women I coach for
competition , stage presence, confidence, and awareness. I enjoy
bringing them out of their shells. I love empowering women. I think
it is important to shine your light as bright as you can , hold your
head high and be strong. I moved to Vernon BC Canada in 2002,
trained for a year and competed in 2003 for the first time in
figure.
After that I took a year off from competing to study the sport and
attend school to become a personal trainer. I started my personal
training business in 2004 when I coached my first competitor.
From there my business started to grow and by 2006, I have had the
opportunity to coach 20 women to partake in the competitive sport of
Figure.
After becoming the Figure Overall Winner at the 2005 Western
Canadian PVL Nutrients Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Show I had
my first opportunity to connect with PVL. While working at Your Gym
Bag I have become a sponsored Athlete on Team PVL. I am a huge PVL
Nutrients fan and not only use their products but encourage others
to use them as well.
I have been featured as a future cover girl in Oxygen Magazine Oct.
2006, I am also a Brasil Sul Sponsored Athlete and have graced the
cover of the Brasil Sul National Catalog 2006 , and I have just
recently been chosen to be on the label of my first supplement
'Recovery' by Remarkable Foods.
A special thanks to PVL , Norm from BRASIL SUL , Ian & Jason from
'Your Gym Bag' and peter & Maureen from Recovery for all their
support and helping me achieve my goals in Figure.

What makes a great
fitness model? - I think that a great Fitness Model should be in
great shape with even conditioning from head to toe. It is important
to eat a clean & healthy diet to remain in good shape year round so
as to be prepared to do a shoot at a moments notice. Hair skin &
nails are an extremely important facet to a nice & healthy look.
Finally, a great fitness model knows how to love the camera and give
a happy & playful, and sexy performance during a photo shoot.
What are the secrets
to become a fitness model? I have always set personal goals for
myself every year-I keep an “Attraction Journal” (If any of you have
seen ‘The Secret’ you know what I’m talking about J)and
write down my thoughts every day- I make an effort to stay positive
at all times even when times are rough and I try to keep a good
sense of humor as much as I can. Positive self talk is a must! I
also make Collages & Vision boards and cut out all my favorite
fitness & figure Gals from the magazines and post them around me to
keep my focus on having a clear vision of what I desire in my life
and which direction I am going in.
What did you do to
become a model? Keep training and or competing and never give up on
your Dreams! No matter what! As long as you keep setting goals and
moving forward you will create things to happen for yourself and you
will live your dreams have a clear vision of yourself and where you
want to be in the future, be precise and write it down. Get
connected with everyone-Hey, you never know who THAT person may know
…and so on…Make brochures promoting yourself and or your business,
give them out to everyone! Do lots of photo shoots and keep all of
your pictures on hand. You never know when a marketing director of a
supplement company may ask you for a picture from your portfolio to
use to promote a product on a label or poster.
What are the
benefits to being a fitness model? It has definitely been a great
platform from which to promote my personal training business. The
publicity has brought many new clients my way.
What is your
favorite thing about being a fitness model? The feeling of
accomplishment and achieving goals that I have set for myself.
How do you stay
beautiful? Get lots of sleep. Drink lots of water. Eat clean and
take antioxidants.
How do you stay fit,
do you have a personal trainer, chef, work out, what do you do? Well
I am a personal trainer so I motivate myself to stay fit. If I feel
like I need some inspiration I will hire another trainer to make me
a new routine to get some fresh ideas.
How do you keep your
skin healthy and fresh looking? I use Mary Kay Miracle set for my
skin-It is AWESOME!
What do you believe
is good health and fitness? Taking an all around approach to fitness
is best. Be sure you are living a balanced lifestyle without as
little stress as possible. Eat a balanced low fat diet. Do cardio
every day, and weight train at least 3x/week.
Do you prefer to tan
or use tanning lotion? I prefer to stay out of the sun and use
tanning lotion.
