Biography:
Originally from Jamaica,W.I., Aletha is a 14 year active duty
military member of the U.S. Navy. She was a long distance
runner from High School through her college years. In 2004,
she was diagnosed with cancer and had a change of routine. Her
healing process led her to start weight training instead of
running. Eventually, she entered the 2006 Armed Force Figure
Competition and has been competing ever since.
“This is my way of fitting in my uniform.” My training for
the past 3 years has given me nothing but pure satisfaction. My
zest for learning is forever being challenged with the change in
the Figure community. Training has given me the opportunity to
dig deep within myself, like I did when recovering from my
cancer, and discovering that with the help of our higher being,
nothing is too far, too hard, or impossible to achieve.

What makes a great
fitness model?
A fitness model must be
just that, a model. For me, I need to be a role model as well.
I feel that kids don’t have enough role models out there. Being
fit means a lot. It covers a vast amount of your view on life
(mental, spiritual, and physical strength).
What are the secrets to
become a fitness model?
Keep the vision before
you. Think to the end. Never lose site of your vision.
What did you do to
become a model?
I am hoping someone will
see me and I will get into the industry one day.
What are the benefits to
being a fitness model?
Keeping myself fit knowing
that others are depending on me.
What is your favorite
things about being a fitness model?
I’m in the best fitness
state of my life and it’s only the beginning.
How do you stay
beautiful?
I take good care of my
skin, hair, and nails. It’s very important to keep in touch
with my feminity. Being in the military, I tend to forget that
I’m a woman. Working in a man’s world often causes me to be
more aggressive than I’d like to be in the work environment.
How do you stay fit, do
you have a personal trainer, chef, work out, what do you do?
I journal my diet and
weight training progress. I train myself. I have a great
friend who gives me an honest opinion about my progress.
How do you keep you skin
healthy and fresh looking?
I apply a face mask at
least once a week. In between, I use toner to remove all the
impurities from my face. As for my body, I use Aloe after
showering everyday. It really makes my skin soft.
What do you believe is
good health and fitness?
I support health and
fitness because it encourages everyone not to become lazy and to
give them a vision of what they can become through training
consistently and smart.
Do you prefer to tan or
use tanning lotion?
I love tanning in the buff,
but I don’t do it for too long. So, I use tanning lotion for my
final touches.
