Harold J. Kristal and James M. Haig have jointly written the book, The Nutrition Solution: A Guide to Your Metabolic Type. This book was written with the intention of exposing the notion that you can improve your health with the easiest and most affordable ways possible; their book is written based on the theory that if you know your metabolic type, and know how to modify your diet accordingly, it is possible to have increased energy levels and stamina and have optimal immune functions. In addition to all of this, it is also possible to experience weight loss and a balanced blood sugar level with the right foods.

 

On reading the book, you also learn how it is possible to improve your immunity against everyday diseases like diabetes and cancer by living according to your metabolic type. You will find a self typing questionnaire in the book for you to answer, upon answering this questionnaire, you will learn about your metabolic type, and for a better understanding of the subject, Dr. Kristal and Dr. Haig also teach you how to use an at home self-testing kit. Dr. Kristal states an interesting point that a pH of 7.46 is required for a healthy body. He also describes an easy method of quantitative procedures wherein it is possible to determine the pH level of a person's blood. The Nutrition Solution states that all people have a mechanism in them that seems to exercise control over their metabolism; it is up to the individual to find this mechanism in themselves.

 

It is not actually known what this reason is; however, Dr. Kristal and Haig state that blood pH is regulated by two control mechanisms; the oxidation rate in the body and the action of the nervous system that functions automatically in the body. These two are divided into two divisions which are the oxidative-dominant that is either fast or slow and the autonomic dominant which is either sympathetic or parasympathetic. With the information received from tests, it is possible to determine a person's metabolic type and the right diet for their metabolic type.
