Great Knee Strengthening Exercises

Our knees are one of the weakest parts of our body and  keeping them strong is a must for everyone, after all we needs our legs to get us through life. For strong, fit  knees throughout life, there are a few great strengthening exercises that you can do. Keep in mind, that we are going to talk about a few different exercises, and that you should only do one of these exercises a day. Doing more than one from the same group could cause injury to that muscle, and that is what these exercises are suppose to prevent.

First of all, before you start your knee exercises, you need to warm up. That means for about five minutes you are going to want to do some very low impact aerobics on your knees. Something like walking or riding a stationary bike is a good idea. This is going to help to increase the blood flow to your knees. Doing this can actually help to loosen up the knees and can help to prevent injuries.

After you are done warming up, it's time to get to work! This first exercises for your knees that you are going to want to do are some leg lifts. To do this, you need to lie flat on your back. While on your back, you need to bend your right knee at a 90 degree angle, but be sure to keep your foot flat on the floor. Now at this point, you are going to make sure that your left leg is straight out. You will then start to lift your left leg until your knees are even, and then slowly put it back down. Once you get your knees at the same height, you should try and hold it there for three seconds. Do this ten times, and then you can switch and do the other knee.

Another good knee exercise that you can do involves nothing more than a chair. While sitting in a chair, put both feet flat on the ground. Then slowly bring up one foot just as if you where stretching out your leg. Hold it there for a few seconds, then slowly let it back down. Do this a few times, and then switch to your other knee. As you can see, this is a good way to keep your knees strong and ready to move.

If you have a pool available to you, then you can do some fun knee exercises in the water. These involve walking in water or attempting to run in water. Remember, these kinds of knee exercises should be done in the shallow end of the pool. Also, be sure to not overdo it. Just like normal knee exercises you should only do this for a few minutes, then stop. Since this works both knees at the same time, you will not have to do your knee exercises as long.

So why should you do these knee exercises? Well, it is said that people do not workout their knees the way that they are should and therefore our knees are the first body part to break down. On top of that, a lot of people get knee problems such as arthritis. If you have arthritis in your knees, there is not much you can do about it. However, doing knee exercises is a good way to keep your knees from getting stiff and worse. Also, it is important to keep in mind that doing these knee exercises could keep you from getting arthritis in the first place. So be sure to keep that in mind and do these exercises everyday. These exercises are not like normal exercises and can be done everyday. Just be sure not to overdo it, otherwise, you are just going to cause more problems with your knees.
